The York Catholic District School Board (YCDSB) is once again a provincial leader for EQAO results, showing that YCDSB students receive an excellent education that helps them build the foundational academic skills they need to succeed.
Education Quality and Accountability Office (EQAO) results for the 2024-25 school year show that the YCDSB community’s collective focus on student achievement continues to help young people excel.
Below are the YCDSB and provincial averages for each testing area.
| Test | 2024-25 | Provincial Average |
| Grade 3 Reading | 79% | 74% |
| Grade 3 Writing | 72% | 65% |
| Grade 3 Mathematics | 69% | 64% |
| Grade 6 Reading | 92% | 86% |
| Grade 6 Writing | 91% | 85% |
| Grade 6 Mathematics | 60% | 51% |
| Grade 9 Mathematics | 73% | 58% |
| Grade 10 Literacy Test | 90% | 84% |
These figures show that YCDSB students far exceeded provincial EQAO averages for the 2024-25 school year.
“I am happy to see the YCDSB’s EQAO scores continued to increase this year, which is not an easy task considering our students’ already impressive results,” said John De Faveri, YCDSB Director of Education. “I am proud of the partnership between teachers and families, which is focused on helping students learn and grow.”
Grade 3, 6 and 9 EQAO results reflect the average of all in-person fully participating students who met or exceeded provincial expectations. They do not include students who provided no data due to absence, medical reasons, etc.
“I want to thank the YCDSB’s staff for working so hard to provide students with an outstanding education, which also supports their faith life and well-being,” said Maria Iafrate, Chair of the Board of Trustees. “Also, I want to thank our students, who I know take school seriously and always try their best. All of us are impressed by your great work.”
